Where to eat and drink in Wrexham

Everywhere we would send someone, in one list. For which of them is actually worth your evening, the write-ups are better company: where to eat and where to drink.

The Fat Boar

Town centre

Bigger, louder and more flexible than the Lemon Tree: the place that copes when there are eight of you and two of them changed their mind about the time. The one you end up taking people to when they say they want something to eat as well, and better at that than the description suggests.

Pub

The Turf

Beside the Racecourse Ground

Attached to the Racecourse Ground itself, which makes it the most photographed pub in north Wales and, on a matchday, the least practical. Go on a Tuesday and it is just a good pub with an extraordinary view of a football stand.

Vault 33

Town centre

In the cellars of a 1912 bank, from which it takes both halves of its name. Cocktails rather than cask, and the room does most of the work: stone, arches, and no daylight to tell you how long you have been there.
